The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is set to be a groundbreaking flagship SoC, expected to launch in the fourth quarter of this year. This chip represents a significant leap forward as it will be the first MediaTek processor constructed using TSMC’s advanced 3nm node (N3E), promising exceptional efficiency and performance.
While the full CPU configuration for the Dimensity 9400 remains under wraps, early rumors suggest it will feature a high-performance Cortex-X5 core, which is anticipated to be announced soon. Complementing this are three Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 cores, maintaining a balance between peak performance and power efficiency.
Additionally, the Dimensity 9400 is rumored to feature substantial enhancements in neural processing unit (NPU) capabilities, with expectations of 20%-50% faster performance from Large Language Models like Llama2 7B and a 15% speed improvement in image generation with Stable Diffusion v1.5.
In a notable shift from traditional configurations, MediaTek is reported to be collaborating with Nvidia to integrate a GeForce GPU into the chipset, diverging from the typical ARM Mali/Immortalis graphics solutions. This partnership could redefine graphics performance in MediaTek’s lineup, setting new standards for mobile gaming and multimedia applications.
